GDS Talks: Entangled Encounters

Artists Lito Kattou and Petros Moris in conversation with Lilly Markaki and Despoina Tzanou

Taking from their current exhibition ´Teras Terra´, artists Lito Kattou and Petros Moris will be in discussion with Lilly Markaki and Despoina Tzanou on theoretical discourse expanding from their artistic practices.

 

Lito Kattou (b. Nicosia, 1990) is a visual artist based in Athens. She is a graduate of the Royal College of Art in London with an MA in Sculpture and the Athens School of Fine Arts.  Kattou is the recipient of the Ducato Prize 2019 and the New Positions Award for Art Cologne 2018 and she was the invited artist for the 89plus Google Residency curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Simon Castets at the Google Cultural Institute in Paris, 2017.

 

Petros Moris (b. Lamia, 1986) is an artist living in Athens. He is a graduate of the Goldsmiths University of London and the Athens School of Fine Arts. He was an artist in residence at Delfina Foundation in 2020, an ARTWORKS fellow in 2018, an Onassis Foundation Scholar, and has been nominated for the Deste Prize 2015.

 

Lilly Markaki (b. Athens, 1991) writes and conducts research on the intersection of the fields of art, science, and philosophy.  She is a PhD Candidate in the dept. of Media Arts at Royal Holloway, University of London. In 2014, she graduated from the Art; Politics; Transgression: 20th Century Avant-Gardes MLitt programme at the University of Glasgow, having previously received a B.A. in Art History from the same institution. Over the past couple of years, she has contributed papers to a number of conferences, written several book reviews for the LSE Review of Books, and participated in the conception and coordination of a number of public outreach programmes, including, most recently, the virtual symposium Love Spells & Rituals for Another World.

 

The talk has been organized and will be introduced by Despoina Tzanou.
