Alfie Rouy: Space In-Between

Mar 17 - Apr 22, 2023 Seoul
Overview

The debut solo exhibition of British artist Alfie Rouy features nine paintings of varying scales that take the viewer on a journey through the evolution of the soul and the space in-between death and rebirth.

Rouy´s new body of works aims to encapsulate the current state of existence as seen through the perspective of a human eye. The exhibition comprises a mix of figurative and abstract pieces that interlink with one another, forming a loose narrative that depicts scenes of the emotional, physical, metaphysical, and elemental, which all exist side by side and interdependently. Through an intuitive and subconscious approach to creating, Rouy aspires to unravel the current experience of the human psyche as it evolves and shifts into the 21st century, through depictions of reality in an elusive and non-realistic way, while also trying to capture its fundamental nature.
