Mimosa Echard Alès, France, b. 1986
Mimosa Echard lives and works in Paris. She graduated from the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (Ensad), Paris, in 2010.
Echard draws on biological research, histories of experimental cinema and her own life to explore the relationship between sexuality, synthesis and perception. Working across various media, she combines plants and organic residue collected in the woods around Paris with beauty products, plastic vessels and tissues, creating unpredictable, mutating hybrids.
Her work has been exhibited at the Centre Pompidou, the Palais de Tokyo and Lafayette Anticipations in Paris; Collection Lambert, Avignon; Amant, New York; the Longlati Foundation, Shanghai; and Kunsthaus Biel. It is held in collections including the Centre Pompidou, the Long Museum, Shanghai, and the Fondation Louis Vuitton.
